Abstract

Fossils are one of the most authentic documents that allow us to establish a solid foundation in the true history of organisms, providing us with precious data on branches representing missing animals. Fossils are interpreted by the early paleontological thought as remains of organisms that lived in the past, demonstrating the wide perception on them that Greeks had. The discovery of large bones, which they attributed a magical or divine origin, may have been the source of inspiration of many myths. Our goal is to evaluate its importance as a historical source.
