Abstract

Case report: A 36-year-old woman with personal history of granulomatosis with polyangiitis without good adherence to the treatment previously established. A proptosis, diplopia with impaired abduction, elevation and depression in the left eye without intraocular inflammatory activity and no scleritis are showed. Magnetic resonance imaging evidenced an increased medial orbital soft tissue 3 x 1.2 cm which contacts the inner and inferior rectus muscle secondary to an active vasculitis. Discussion: When granulomatosis with polyangiitis occupies the orbital cavity, an aggressive treatment should be performed, and the importance of adhering to the treatment should be explained, as otherwise it may lead to irreversible damage.
