What happens when the Venezuelan becomes "the other"? When he or she is a foreigner and has to form part of another society, under other rules and as part of a minority., This study by Vanessa Rodríguez deals with the profiles of the Venezuelan who arrives in Spain, a country which has gone from being a producer of emigrants to a receiver of immigrants, and whose policies of social inclusion have been moulded over many years. As well as looking at the statistical data on our compatriots, amid the million and a half foreigners who live in Spain, the study examines the way they are represented in the media. A cultural territory by its very nature, television could construct a space for mutual recognition and integration for the society that receives and the immigrant attempting to adapt.
