Abstract

In this paper the relations established by the institutionalist variant theories of segmentation between qualification of the workforce and labor market segmentation are analyzed. From this perspective, the specificity of the qualifications imposed by technology is crucial to explain the creation of the internal labor markets factor and therefore segmentation. In its analysis, the qualification is an ability, synthesized in the easy and quick adjustment between worker and job, derived essentially from the «class subculture» of origin. Formal education is only relevant in the «upper primary» labor market segment. The institutionalist variant is at the center of his critique of neoclassical analysis of the labor market their own disagreement, not without contradictions, with the Theory of Human Capital.
