Abstract

The European Space of Higher Education (ESHE) synthesizes the european university education integration process in the same way that the euro synthesizes the monetary and economic integration. Though the ESHE process began more than two decades ago, it was only two years ago that the european universities have begun to apply the reforms, so it is soon to do a rigorous evaluation of the reached results. Nevertheless, a historical analysis of the meetings, agreements and declarations that happened during the ESHE creation allows to knowing with clarity the values and the rules that should inspire the structures, systems, roles and processes of learning and teaching in the University since 2010. This article presents the most important declarations and the historical commitments which are in the origin of the ESHE, and we want the reader to know the bases and foundations of the new Higher Education in Europe.
