Abstract

Tourist rental of holiday homes is raised as disruptive business model, of marketing and exploitation that offer obsolete extrahoteleras tourist destination Canary Islands (Spain) needed to maintain and even improve their competitiveness.However, the Canary legislation has expressly forbidden to this type of holiday letting develop in coastal tourist areas.The main goal of this paper is to analyze the housing situation of holiday let in the tourist areas of coast of the Canary Islands. For this purpose we proceed to a description of its evolution in the Canary hosting model, as well as identification of the effects of the ban.
