Abstract

In the educational process the teacher is a key figure, which is why it is important to focus on teacher behaviour in the classroom; therefore, the methodology of choice is observational methodology. This methodology is flexible and useful in order to obtain information, but it is expensive both in time and resources. The length of class time in college demands long registrations, which could have an influence on the reliability of data. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate the ideal interval of time to register. Generalizability Theory (GT) allows us to do an exhaustive study of the different sources of bias found in the measurement process. In this study, GT is used to determine an optimal registration interval, analyzing three different lengths of time: 15, 30 and 45 minutes. The findings show that 30 minutes is the most efficient length of time to collect as much information as possible without affecting the reliability of records.
