Resumen

Given the important role that fear of emotions plays in various conditions, is crucial to have appropriate assessment instruments psychometric properties. The objective of this study was to validate the Affective Control Scale (ACS) in a general population canaries sample. A total of 494 people, with an age range varied between 18 and 81 years (63,8% female and 36,2% men), who were administered the ACS and related instruments to assess psychopathology. Were identified by exploratory factor analysis three factors: Fear of Depression-Nervousness-Restlessness, Fear of Positive Affect and anger and Fear and uncontrollable Anxiety and Feeling Good. The factors showed adequate reliability (Cronbach's alpha and correlations between factors), and convergent validity (correlations with Symptom Assessment45 Questionnaire and the Questionnaire of Worry and Anxiety). We conclude that ACS is an instrument with good psychometric properties.
