One important aspect to ensure the quality of teaching is related to its assessment. Within this evaluation of teaching, a fundamental aspect corresponds to the evaluation of teachers. There are several ways to evaluate teaching, one of the most common is the analysis of the perception that teachers have about their teaching work. We made an analysis of the “Cuestionario para el análisis de la orientación docente del profesor universitario” (adapted from Feixas, 2006) using Item Response Theory to know the psychometric characteristics of the elements of the scale. To conduct the study, we selected the 127 questionnaires which were completed in its entirety, of which 71 were from men and 55 women. First, was studied the reliability and the unidimensionality of the questionnaire; and then was made the analysis of individual items, in which was found that its development followed certain pattern, so that it creates a tendency to respond positively to the items associated with positive characteristics and to disagree with those who are related to unsuitable characteristics of teachers.
