Résumé

Introduction: The water of Fuenteror emerges of “Barranco de Teror”, Gran Canaria Island. Declared natural mineral water in 1995. Methods: Physicochemical and chemical parameters have been analyzed. Gastrointestinal stimulant activity of waters of Fuenteror (FW) versus other canary mineral waters (Mineral Water I, (MW I), Mineral Water II, (MW II) and saline (S) was studied. Results: Temperature = 18ºC; pH=6.9; Conductivity (20ºC)=275µS/cm; Dry residue seco=234 mg/L; Harness =6.75 ºF. Mineralizing components (mg/L): CO3H- = 94.4; Cl- = 29.5; SO4 2- = 17.8; NO3 - =19.4; Ca++ = 14.7; Mg++ =11.2; Na+ =30.3; K+=4.7. Silica (SiO2) = 57.7 mg/L. The index of catharsis (fecal bolus) decreases in the following order: Fuenteror warter > Mineral Water I, (MW I) > Mineral Water II, (MW II) > saline (S). The water content decreases in the following order: Fuenteror water (FW) > Mineral Water I, (MW I) > Mineral Water II, (MW II) > saline (S). The contraction force on isolated duodenum increases respect to time, (Fuenteror water (FW) > Mineral Water I, (MW I) > Mineral Water II, (MW II)), with a maxim peak to first minute. Contraction frecuence decreases slightly with the dose used. Conclusions: Fuenteror waters show a gastrointestinal stimulant effect slightly higher two other canary waters of similar mineralization. Therefore are indicated in: treatment for dispepsia, constipation or gastrointestinal disorders.
