Abstract

The fundamental aim of the present work has been the construction and validation of a questionnaire destined to measure the actions of self-motivation that the university students develop in the European Space of Higher Education (ESHE). We must consider that the ESHE promotes the autonomy, the responsibility and the auto-regulation of the student. The empirical analysis of the reliability and of the validity of the instrument has been carried out in a sample of 254 university students of tourism, with ages between the 17 and 22 years. The internal consistency and the validity of the questionnaire are satisfactory. The instrument can be used to analyze the self-motivation of the students and to anticipate and to intervene in the mentioned area, considering that the self-motivation constitutes a competence of great value in the ESHE. The mentioned competence includes cognitive, behavioural and affective aspects.
