Abstract

The current knowledge in the Physical Education field requires an update to the new social and professional needs and a consequent academic organization. In this scenario, a number of issues are gathered. Namely, a new way of consensus about the subject while questioning its timelessness, a social benefit of knowledge, a remarkably specific didactics, a confuse two-headedness of our knowledge as a academic structure with two areas, and some kind of contradictory pragmatism for assuming practical models within a theoretical framework. These problems, the ways they are attacked, and the corresponding impact are reviewed by the authors. A solution is probed as well about a solution for a relationship between theoretical and practical knowledge under a sociallike theory. Besides, a relationship is established between knowledge and its social value. This is made after postulating a social sense of science whereby focusing the future initial formation of grades in Physical Education. Finally, the authors claim for the elimination of the current ambiguity in separating the disciplines within the knowledge areas in the Spanish Universtiy in charge of formating the future professionals.
