Abstract

This work presents the analysis and description of the violence suffered by those merchants working in late medieval Atlantic Andalusia, who carried out their offices and travelled both by land and sea. In addition to the study of some specific episodes of violence, we shall be analysing those insurances granted by the Crown to mitigate the effect of such actions, which occasionally might thwart the development of trade at the time.
