Résumé

This article studies the professions related to death, which by their peculiarities we have called: the damn professions. We start analyzing the historical disregard on part the of Sociology of the study of this social phenomenon. We reflect on these types of professions, we visualize the scarce or null statistical treatment of occupational data related to death, we showing the categories and the lack of statistical data on these professions which, we understand, contributes to hiding the social complexity of the phenomenon of death. We analyze the conceptual architecture that specifically these occupations have. We elaborate the conceptual framework of these professions. Sociology has dismissed the study of death and the professions related to it, which has contributed to making this phenomenon the biggest social taboo in western societies. We consider that like any emerging field, this proposal requires a previous methodological reflection, as often these taboos implies absence of categories, and require new methodologies to detect, construct or reconstruct analytical concepts.
