Résumé

The "Pozo de Salud" is situated in the village of Sabinosa of the island El Hierro, Canary Islands, Spain. Its waters have been known for many centuries and have been declared as mineromedicinal waters during the first half of the XIX century. They have a stimulating activity on the intestinal mobility because of a higber velocity of transits and intestinal contents. In the next experimental work the laxative activity of these waters has been quantified through the velocity of the intestinal transition. and the conclusion is that they possess a dose-dependant laxative activity while the mechanism of osmotic action and its main clinical indication is constipation.
