Abstract

The emergence of the archival turn in historiography has placed the archives as historical objects susceptible of being investigated as objects of study themselves. In this approach, the family archives are research subjects of special interest because their own dynamics of creation, management and use outside the institutions. In the Canary Islands, the first results of the application of this approachment present a promising line of research that seeks to deepen the knowledge of historical, social and cultural dynamics through the analysis of processes of formation of the archives.
