Résumé

This paper analyzes the transformations that happened in the borders of the west coast of Africa at the beginning of the European expansion in that Continent. It put in contrast the fixed image of the bilateral confrontations: Castilians/Portuguese, nomads/ sedentary, Barbary/Numidia, Land of Moors / Land of Negroes, faithful / infidels; with the analysis of the acculturation processes that degrade such limits and generate multiple and complex relationships
