Abstract
Zygomycosis is an opportunistic infection affecting typically inmunocompromised hosts. It is the most acutely fatal fungal disease known. We report a case of a 28-year old cetoacidotic woman who debuted with an Orbital Apex Syndrome an cerebral involvement due to Zygomycosis verified by microbiologic cultures. The evolution was aggressive and the patient died en the fourth day of illness. Pathological study showed extensive infiltration of orbital and cerebral structures an mycotic thrombosis of blood vessels.
