Flora y Vegetación de la Montaña de Los Guirres (Güímar, Tenerife)

Résumé

Los Guirres Mountain is located near the coast on the municipality of Güímar (SE Tenerife). In this dissertation the climate, bioclimate, flora and vegetation of it are studied together with the uses that have been given to the territory along history. Also, other features of physical environment are outlined from the literature consulted. The bioclimatic study concludes with the inclusion of the area in the LowerInframediterranean Lower-Arid bioclimatic belt in correspondence with a sweet-spurge scrub as climatophilous vegetation. Along the floristic study we have recorded 120 taxa, 32 of which are endemics. From the phytosociological vegetation study we have recognized 16 plant associations both potential and substitutional, and we have performed a real vegetation map. Nowadays, because of the abandonment of traditional uses, some recovering of the natural plant communities is noticed.
