Abstract

This paper presents a comparative account of the developments of A. Sohn-Rethel’s andTh. W. Adorno’s interpretation of Kantian Philosophy from a materialistic position. They utilizethe notions of commodity fetishism or social synthesis in order to articulate their theories of socialdomination. Their analyzes show that the concept of the transcendental subject represents not onlysomething abstract, but the society unaware of itself.
