Abstract

This poster shows an interpretative analysis of the sociological studies on death and on the professions and professionals linked to it, specifically on the activities of tanatoplasty: tanatoesthetics and tanatopraxia. In Spain, scientific research on death has been practically excluded from scientific, academic and educational spac-es, or have been traditionally associated with anthropological and sociodemographic studies. The investigations on tanatoesthetics and tanatopraxia professionals are not existents. In historical-cultural relations between the Atlantic world, in Spain this fact is opposed to the long scientific trajectory of many Latin American countries that, historically, and especially from legal Anthropology, they have deepened on this social phenomenon, as well as the studies from death professionals.
