Abstract

This article is focused on the use of Differential Interferometry SAR (DinSAR), a remote sensing technique used to detect ground displacement. The objective of the article is to highlight the main features of the methodology used at TRE ALTAMIRA for the detection of ground displacement with milimetric accuracy and to present examples of application for tunnelling and underground excavations. The use of InSAR for ground displacement monitoring is becoming a standard in the civil engineering sector. The use of these techniques has several operational advantages like an areal coverage at low cost, a regular acquisition over time, and the possibility of analysing the past by using archived data. The data obtained is also comparable with classic geodetic methods.
