Résumé

The malaquites from an iron and copper ore located at the Sierra del Águila (Zafra) have been chemically and mineralogically characterized. These malaquites are abundant and show different morphology and supergenic origin. Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, XRD, Optical Microscopy and SEM/EDX have been the methods used for this characterization. The substitution of iron and manganese by copper has been detected in this type of malaquites. Possible applications for these minerals are: gems, decoration or in ceramic industry.
