Abstract

Three very different cases of artistic creation are analyzed: the artwork of Gregorio Marichal, the sculptures of Pedro Zamorano and a three-dimensional plastic proposal (poetry-sculpture interaction) made within the LEC research project. All the artworks are made with stones from La Gomera (Canary Islands-Spain). La Gomera is a volcanic island, there are very different rocks on its surface: syenites, basalts, traquites, phonolites, pyroclastic rock, etc., some presenting varying levels of alteration, which enrich them with orange tones, ocher, red, violet, greenish, whitish; materials of enormous creative potential that have allowed to develop plastic artworks of singular beauty. The island is small, but it has good air and sea transport, also good digital connection, this allows external projection for local artists. As well as it allows foreign creators to know the island and the chance to approach this exceptional environment, proving that today, the professional development of art is possible outside the macro cities.
