Abstract

Establishing a study by comparison of two representations of the Franciscan family tree, (engraving by Peeter de Iode, Antwerp, 1600-1625, Secular Franciscan Order, Santa Cruz de La Palma, and painting atributed to Juan Espinosa de los Monteros, Cuzco, 1655, Museum Colonial of the Convent of San Francisco, Santiago de Chile), we set as an objective the follow-up of the transmission of models of representation and the importance of the books of stamps and engravings. We will embark on a transoceanic journey that will take us, from the city of Antwerp, to the Hispano-American pictorial workshops, taking as reference points those works that respond to the characteristics and models that hold the pieces that are the object of our study. These will be those that, from an empirical methodology, serve as sources and historical-artistic documents of the first order, for the study of artistic transfers from the Old to the New World.
