Resumen

In 1661, there came to Tacoronte, a people placed in the north of the island of Tenerife, an image that would change the Christian devotion of his inhabitants. He was the Christ of Dolores, image still today venerated by all the canaries. For his glorification and joy of the municipality, they concluded the church that shelters it since then: the Sanctuary of the Holiest Christ de los Dolores, and one year later, in 1665, somebody would paint the roof of the major chapel of the temple where it is. With this article we claim the analysis detailed of this roof, with a study from all the possible points of view, from the historical one to the chemist, from the architectural one to the iconographic one, serving all the disciplines for the historical-artistic development of the work.
