Abstract

This paper tries to analyze the needs emerged because of cultural diversity in “IES Guaza”, a Secondary School of Tenerife. To carry out the study, 12 informants from the school community have participated (10 men and 11 women): 6 teachers, 4 students, 1 mother and 1 social worker from the local Youth Center. The techniques employed have been the analysis of documents of the school, questionnaire and individual and group open interviews. The results point out to different lacks concerning study routines, more absenteeism and delay, low general level of instruction, feelings of not being a membership… To sum up, the following needs are underlined: to adapt the objectives of each matter, to carry out reinforcement activities, to identify and register the actual high amount of students with special educative needs and to meet their needs with specialized teachers, and to ask the school for the development of all the available measures for attention to diversity.
