Abstract

In this paper we analyse the integration strategies of the Jacques’ family, a family of Flemish origin in the Canary Islands during the sixteenth century. The methods used focused both on commercial relations and on kinship through the women of the family. We highlighted the activity of one of its components, Ana Jaques Vantrille, as an example of the role of women, once they become widowed, in the society of the time.
