Resumo
Students taking a BSc degree in Software and Hardware Computer Engineering are, by their own nature, the ideal targets for the implementation of the principles of autonomous learning. The reduced number of contact hours available restricts the possibility of proposing long-term objectives that may go beyond basic items, such as textual organization, the acquisition of a basic technical vocabulary and the necessary skills to understand newly coined terms and expressions, discourse markers, or the strengthening of skimming and scanning reading techniques. The goal of this paper is to describe the syllabus design of this subject, the assessment criteria, and the making up of tailored activities. For that purpose, we will show several examples of the tasks that students complete in the multimedia computer room, whose main aim is to increase students’ motivation and autonomous learning strategies.
