Abstract

Vision loss in patients with idiopathic macular telangiectasia type 2 (MacTel 2) generally occurs slowly over many years. The development of a subretinal neovascularization (SRNV) may occur late in the disease process and lead to a more dramatic vision loss. We report the case of a woman diagnosed with MacTel 2 and the optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) findings associated with secondary SRNV. The commercially available OCT-A Cirrus 5000 AngioPlex platform (Zeiss, Jena, Germany) was used for the exploration. The subretinal neovascularization was detectable with OCT-A at the deep capillary plexus and the avascular layer. In the present case, OCT-A was essential for the diagnosis of SRNV secondary to MacTel 2
