Abstract

Cytomegalovirus infection has a high prevalence worldwide. Generally, congenital cytomegalovirus infection causes the most serious clinical features and the worst long-term sequelaes. The following is a reported series of five cases of cytomegalovirus infection that had previously occurred in our hospital in the last ten years. Two of them are postnatal cytomegalovirus infections and three congenital cytomegalovirus infections. Three patients have received treatment (in two cases for congenital infection and the other one in case of postnatal infection). Nowadays, no patient in our hospital has severe hearing loss, although in some cases the auditory evoked potentials are unclear and these patients are still under follow-up.
