Abstract

The renovation of tourism accommodation facilities has become a key focus of public tourism policy in the Canary Islands (Spain). The main purpose of this paper is to characterize the process of renovation of tourism accommodation undertaken in the framework of this public policy. For that, we analyse tourism establishments that have been benefited from any kind of public incentive and therefore are incuded in the “Plan for Modernization, Improvement and Increase of the Competitiveness”.
