Resum

"The century of romantic travelers" is one of the epithets that best describes the sixth century in America and Europe. A practice fed by travelers and connecting the two Worlds, was the postal correspondence maintained with their distant land. Once the postcards were received, European architectures, interiors and landscapes came to life in the recipient's mind that satisfied his curiosity and, at the same time, were circulation vehicles for new sources of artistic inspiration. In this investigation we will address the influences and the new perspectives provided, especially in the Chilean territory, thanks to the presence of European postcards, supporting the iconographic testimonies that the current visitor can find in the Vicuña Mackenna Museum in Santiago de Chile.
