Abstract

The aim of this work is the revision of Nursing Care Continuity Report (Informes de Continuidad de Cuidados de Enfermería -ICCE-) that have been done from August 2003 to December 2004, in the Psiquiatric Care Unit of the University Hospital (Hospital Universitario de Canarias), in order to analyze the way in which these reports are developed, and what aspects of it are improvable; as well as determining the nursing problems that the patient needs when he/she gets the hospital discharge. The methodology used on it is mainly descriptive, of transversal cut, compiling all the reports (about ten) done in the unity we work for, making use of the diagnostics NANDA2 , registered as indicators of the nursing problems, for their subsequent inventory , and assigning variables to the format (the ones basically established between C.S.T. and S.C.S.), as well as to the content of the ICCE, in order to take notice of the presence, absence and frequency of these variables for their analysis and comparison within the established framework. The results show that the ICCE format fits in a high percentage with the established 85% (see table n 4 and 5). As far as the content is concerned, it can be improved up to 56,6 % (see table 6 and 7), which indicates the relationship between this content and the report´s evolutive process. The nursing problems, when getting the hospital discharge, that need cares most frequently (see table 2), coincide in both sexes, taking into account that the slightly existing differences could be derived from the difference between the average of both sexes.
