Abstract

Nursing has been present in history "always". Self-care arose in the caves, with those first men who preceded us, and who laid the first stone of our civilization. This care, informal in its origin that was developed in the domestic space, was giving way to much more elaborate ways that sought to provide solutions to people's problems, to cover their needs, to accompany those who most needed it. Because yes, Nursing and nurses have always been "present". Progressively, the religious orders assumed a task of caring for the poor and helpless, which on many occasions was not well regarded by society at that time. The small charities were giving way to increasingly complex organizing hospitals under the protection of the ruling classes.
