Aproximación paleoclimática y paleopaisajística durante el MIS 3 a partir del estudio de los micromamíferos del yacimiento de El Salt (Alcoi, Alicante)

Abstract

The Habitat Weighting Method and the Mutual Climatic Range Method are applied to the small-mammal assemblage of the Middle Paleolithic subunit Xb of El Salt (Alcoi, Alicante) in order to reconstruct the environmental and climatic conditions during the deposition of this subunit. The taxa identified are Microtus arvalis, M. (Terricola) duodecimcostatus, Microtus cabrerae, Arvicola sapidus, Eliomys quercinus, Apodemus sylvaticus, Erinaceus europaeus, Crocidura sp., Sorex sp.,Talpa sp., Chiroptera indet. and Oryctolagus cf. cuniculus. The climatic reconstruction (MCR) suggest colder and moister climatic conditions than those occurring today in the area and the landscape reconstruction (Habitat Weighting Method) shows an environment dominated by woodlands alternating with humid and dry meadows.
