Abstract

The personal and social adaptation of the students with high abilities is an issue that has given rise to two streams which are at opposite poles. The negative current assumes that these children if present major problems of social adaptation and the positive power that assumes that these children have equal or better adjust personal and social as their peers, showing an inappropriate social setting is not inherent to a superior intellectual ability. Recent researchs indicate that the adaptation of the students does not allow to affirm that they will differ from other groups with lower IQ. Thus, literature does not allow to reach clear conclusions on this aspect. The objective of this work is to compare different aspects of the adaptive by a group of children behavior with high abilities with the normative population. The results support the positive approach that affirms that gifted children are not more mismatch problems as their peers of normal intelligence. Cannot be concluded that these children have one mismatch in adaptation of conduct in relation to the policy group.
