Resumen

The impact of the economic crisis from 2009, together with the growing deregulation and flexibility of the Spanish labour market, have had a decisive influence on the fact that young people's job transitions have become more precarious and delayed than previous generations.Based on secondary data from different statistics and surveys (INE, ESS...) and, mainly, analysing surveys from the Observatory of Employability and Employment of the UNED (Spanish Open University), we explore in this communication the differences in employment transitions between university graduates from face-to-face and distance universities. We test previous findings that distance universities have the utility of allowing transitions for older graduates or those who had left the university system, and we analyze it in a new context with the effects of the Great Recession and the lengthening of studies that the introduction of the European Higher Education Area entails.
