Abstract

The volcanic alignment of Casas de Ciruela, is located in the central area of Campo de Calatrava within the syncline basin of Poblete (Ciudad Real). It is a group of volcanoes, old Quaternary age (upper Pliocene-lower Pleistocene) aligned Northwest to southeast following the direction of the parallel fractures which channels the lower valley of the Jabalón river, close of its outflow on the Guadiana river, and the orientation of the main axis of volcanism (Ancochea 1981). This group of Volcanoes is immersed in one of the zones with greater activity and greater number of buildings of the entire volcanic region. We are represented in this small alignment, of just five kilometers, all types of eruptive activity recognized in the Campo de Calatrava. The proposed route start at the NW with the passage along the interesting strombolian volcano of La Zurriaga, continuing towards the SE through the group of small hornitos of the Ciruela volcano, the Moreras volcano, the great phreatomagmatic depression of Llongueras-Cantagallos, finishing in the magmatic building of La Puebla
