Abstract

The aim of this work is to increase the knowledge about the volcanoes of Campo de Calatrava Volcanic Region (Ciudad Real province), as a potential resource for the development of Geotourism. It is necessary to know what tourist resources these volcanoes offer and what are the potential tourist activities can be carried out in this territory. The knowledge of these resources will serve to diversify the economic activities in a traditionally agricultural area, and to promote a geotourism based on volcanic activity and landforms, and the uses that Man has given to the volcanoes throughout the history. Therefore, it is convenient to consider the potential attraction for tourists of elements such as volcanic deposits (ash, lapilli, lava flows, pyroclastic flows, spatter...), morphologies (constructive and destructive), ecosystems developed in them, ethno-cultural elements, and the volcanic landscape itself.
