Zusammenfassung

The Cerro Gordo Volcano of the Volcanic Region of Campo de Calatrava, located in the municipalities of Granátula de Calatrava and Valenzuela de Calatrava (province of Ciudad Real), has become an important Interpretation Center of this volcanic territory. This volcano has a great eruptive variety evidenced as a result of the transfer of a sector of the quarry by the Lafarge-Holcim company. Since its opening in April 2016, the Interpretation Center has served more than 9,500 visitors, mainly from Castilla-La Mancha and Madrid. The Center has parking for buses and cars, a small wooden cabin for reception of visitors and a closed circuit with 10 interpretive panels. Cerro Gordo has become one of the most sought after visits of the “Cultural Park Calatrava”, next to Corral de Comedias de Almagro, the Castle of Calatrava La Nueva and the city of Almagro itself. It also has the website: Cerro Gordo. Fire, ash, cement
