Canarian historiography has defended that ancient Canarian cultures lived with their backs to the sea, in inter-island isolation and outside the Archipelago, for lacking nautical technology hat fishing was a complementary subsistence strategy with little weight in the diet, opportunistic, together with the collection of mollusks; and only some researchers consider that the fishing potential of the Canary waters and its oceanic environment were a key factor for the settlement of the Archipelago. In contrast, the archaeological works developed on the islet of Lobos document a Roman purple workshop, where a varied cast of fishery activities was practiced, that allow us to reflect on the knowledge that classical sources transmit from these marine exploitation activities convey classic fonts, associated with the intensification of fishery activities.
