Abstract
This study ran an enquiry on the evaluation strategies for the blind and visually impaired used by evaluators in this country. In included analysis of general aspects related to the evaluation tools most frequently used, interpretation of resuts, test conditions and scope. The results show procedures based on rules for the sighted are the ones most frequently employed, although interpretation of results is based on flexible criteria. These and other results indicate that specific tools for the blind and visually impaired are seldom used by evaluators, given their low reliability and the preponderance of evaluation models based on rules than on criteria or self-referece.
