Abstract

Urban geotourism is a new type of tourism that consists of exploiting the natural and cultural heritage in cities linked to gea for tourism. Vilaflor has a very interesting volcanic heritage to implement this type of new tourist products. The aim of this communication is to create a geographically-based urban geotourism route through the historical center of Vilaflor based on the inventory, selection and characterization of places of geotourism interest. Ten elements and places associated with natural (legendary trees and Chorrillo’s ravine) and with tangible cultural heritage, religious property (churches, hermitages, sanctuaries) and civil (farms, laundries, mills) have been selected. Starting from these geotourism places of interest, an urban geotourism itinerary is proposed that runs through the town of Vilaflor and it’s surroundings in a low difficulty route, and two hours long.
