Abstract

Museums are committed to safeguard and preserve their collections. The implementation of preventive and conservation protocols in its deposits is a valuable instrument for guaranteeing their integrity, as they provide practices aimed at preventing their deterioration. With this objective, it has been undertaken the integral adaptation of the storerooms of the Archaeological Museum of La Gomera. The methodology consists in developing a diagnosis of the database, location and conservation conditions of the collection. Lastly, it has been designed a set of new solutions aimed at its preservation and accurate organisation.. Moreover, this system allows preventive and conservation protocols according to material nature and their preservation condition. The development of a new storage system provides stable conservation conditions and facilitates the handling of the archaeological deposits, which reduces the risk of accidents. Finally, the new packaging system displays the most suitable technical performance to ensure the integrity of the archaeological materials stored at the Archaeological Museum of La Gomera.
