Abstract
In the laurel forest from the Canary Islands, it is common to find the lea- ves of trees colonized by epiphyllous organisms, normally dominated by lichens and bryophytes. The high canopy of the trees makes its study complicated, this would explain the low munber of studies related to this topic. However, in tropical forests the colonization by epiphyllous has been studied in-depth, highlighting the appearance of cyanobacteria and other microalgae. Taking into account that the Canarian laurel forest is a subtropical forest type, we consider the potential of finding cyanobacteria among the organisms that grow on the Jeaves.
