Resumen

Meditation on the city is one of the main themes of Los caminos dispersos, second and last book of poems by Alonso Quesada (1886-1 925). Within the tradition of the ennui of Baudelaire or Laforgue, the city, in the «Story» of Quesada's book, is the complementary opposite of nature, and it is a part of the vital evolution, but it arouses in the poet a «spleen» that increases the <<anxiety of the heart.» Both experiences of the city - the provincial city and the metropolis- are dramatic, because it accentuate the essential loneliness of the individual. The expression of urban life underscores the uniqueness of Quesada's poetry in the panorama of Hispanic poetry of his time.
