El papel del logopeda en la rehabilitación de las secuelas de Covid-19

Resum

Covid-19 is an emerging disease caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus that has caused significant health problems and new challenges in global health. Consequently, the figure of the professional speech therapist has gained greater relevance. In the present work the sequelae related to speech therapy are exposed, such as: sequelae in the voice, dysphagia, neurological sequelae (aphasia, dysarthria, dysphemia and cognitive deficit) and language delay, being speech therapy a key discipline for the rehabilitation of these. Likewise, reference is made to the impact of the mask, since it has been one of the measures to stop and prevent the spread of the disease. However, in many cases it has influenced the communication of people, both verbal and non-verbal, interfering in the message, affecting facial expressions, gestures, body language, causing difficulties in the understanding between sender and receiver, sometimes generating ineffective communication. Finally, since the beginning of the pandemic, health services have had to face new scenarios. Thus, speech therapists have adapted their methodology to the new times, gaining great importance the establishment of telepractice, with prevention, evaluation or rehabilitation sessions.
