Resumen

The aim of our article is to offer a reflection about the consequences that the use of the term Coloniaje implied in the documents of Art History, History and Literature that appeared in Latin America between 19th and 20th century. Its utilization with a negative feature will be largely used in the pages of the defenders of a society separated from its hispanic past, especially as an argument to maintaine, inappropriately, the absence of a history and of an artistic and literary production, nullified and persecuted by the ruthless conquistadores. When the term became widespread, other autors used it in the same way, even when their writings did not mean to undervalue the legacy of the presene of hispanic people in the american continent at all. For the collection of the works to examinate, we looked for the ones that have the term Coloniaje in their title.
