Résumé
Purpose: The objective of this project is to present our experience using telemedicine in diabetic retinopathy screening. Methods: A total of 1,000 diabetic patients were screened for diabetic retinopathy using non-mydriatic digital fundus imaging system located in centres of health. Images of each fundus were obtained and sent to our Hospital by electronic mail. Once reviewed each image, eye disease was diagnosed and recommendations made for subsequent care. Results: The prevalence of any form of diabetic retinopathy was 17.20%. Conclusions: We highlight the speed of the exploration, being effective as screening method for diabetic retinopathy.
